Event Detail

The Hainan Danzhou Marathon 2026 takes place on Sunday 20 December in western Hainan, with both courses starting and finishing at Yangpu Coastal Culture Square, East Binhai Road. The organising regulations allocate 3,000 full-marathon places and 8,000 half-marathon places, for 11,000 entrants in total. China Athletics Association certification is described as pending in the 2026 rules, not already granted.

Coastal routes and race operations

Both the 42.195 km marathon and 21.0975 km half marathon start at 07:30 China Standard Time (UTC+8). The longer course heads along the Yangpu waterfront, crosses Yangpu Bridge and continues through the Xinying Bay road network before returning to the square. The half marathon also crosses Yangpu Bridge but turns back sooner. The organiser's rules specify six hours for the marathon and three hours for the half marathon, with intermediate checkpoint closures. Times are measured using the bib's embedded timing chip; runners must pass every required timing mat.

Race-day check-in is 06:00–07:15, and baggage deposit runs 06:00–07:10. Use the event-issued baggage bag and keep valuables with you. Baggage retrieval closes at 11:30 for half-marathon runners and 14:30 for marathon runners. Medical support includes fixed points approximately every 2.5 km, mobile AED responders and volunteers. Cooling sprays may be provided depending on conditions.

Eligibility and race rules

The full marathon is open to runners at least 20 years old (born on or before 1 January 2006), while half-marathon entrants must be at least 18 (born on or before 1 January 2008). The race requires qualifying participation evidence from within the preceding 24 months: one marathon or two half marathons for the full distance, or one half marathon or two races of 10 km or longer for the half. Runners aged 65 and over have additional family-consent conditions. Entrants must assess their medical readiness in accordance with the organiser's health guidance.

Registration runs 16 September to 30 October 2026, closing sooner if capacity fills, and places are first come, first served. Successful entries cannot be changed to another distance, and the published rules say fees are normally non-refundable if a participant cannot attend. Transfers and sales of race bibs are prohibited. Refer to the official guide for the organiser's full rules on eligibility, assistance, withdrawals and results.

Race packs and travel

Race-pack collection is in person on 18 December, 10:00–20:00, and 19 December, 09:00–22:00 (China time). Bring your original identity document matching the application; authorised collection by someone else is not permitted. The organiser has not yet published the exact collection venue in the accessible 2026 regulations. Confirm its final address and the transport/road-closure notices before travelling.

Participants who finish within the course cut-off and satisfy timing checks qualify for the advertised finisher items and results certificate. The marathon also includes a Chinese running-club team competition; team registration information must be submitted separately under the organiser's rules. Further details, including route changes and any announcements on the provisional certification, should be checked through the official event website and the published 2026 race regulations.
