Event Detail
The 2026 Hainan Dongfang Half Marathon brings a substantial road-running event to Hainan Island's western coast on Sunday 22 November 2026, with a scheduled 7:30 am start. The organisers are preparing for 6,000 participants in a single 21.0975 km half-marathon distance. This is separate from the Hainan Danzhou Marathon and other provincial races: Dongfang has its own course, registration and organising arrangements.
Route and experience
Runners assemble at the east gate of Dongfang City Cultural Square. From there, the announced route passes through Dongfang's urban roads and includes part of the Hainan Island Ring Tourism Road, connecting everyday city scenes with the island's coastal landscape. The finish is at Yulinzhou Scenic Area, on the Jiefang West Road section, so participants should not assume that the race ends back at the start. The organisers describe this as a coastal road race, not a beach or off-road trail event.
Dongfang sits on Hainan's western seaboard. The course gives visiting runners a different experience from the island's better-known resort-city races, combining a purposeful half-marathon effort with a look at a working coastal city. The previous edition brought together thousands of runners, and the 2026 event is focused on the half-marathon competition.
Registration and requirements
The published entry price is CNY 150 for the half marathon. Registration opened on 3 September at 10 am on a first-come, first-served basis while places remained. The published application deadline was 25 October 2026 at 5 pm China Standard Time; that deadline has now passed. Do not assume new entries remain available. ZUICOOL hosts the 2026 race registration page, and the organising committee provides updates through its event channels.
Applicants must provide evidence of two race results of at least 10 km from the preceding 24 months when applying for the half marathon. Check the published competition regulations for any other eligibility conditions rather than relying on last year's rules.
Practical race-day notes
The start and finish are in different places, so plan accommodation, transport and the return journey accordingly. Arrive early for security and starting procedures, and allow extra travel time on roads affected by closures. Confirm race-pack collection, chip timing and any shuttle arrangements from the final organiser guide rather than presuming services from a previous edition. For questions, the published committee contact is dongfangmarathon@126.com or 19389868037 during its stated office hours.
