Event Detail
The SKF Goa River Marathon 2026 returns to Vasco da Gama on Sunday 13 December 2026. Organised by Vasco Sports Club, the 16th edition brings runners to the Zuari River and the roads around Chicalim for a full marathon, a 32.2 km 20 Miler, a half marathon, a 10 km race and a 5 km non-competitive fun walk/run. The 2026 registration partner, iFinish, has published important updates to the event timetable, so participants should use these current-edition times rather than older race schedules.
Confirmed 2026 start times (India Standard Time)
- 42.195 km marathon: 04:00, over two out-and-back laps of approximately 21.1 km.
- 32.2 km 20 Miler: 04:10, over two out-and-back laps of approximately 16.1 km.
- 21.0975 km half marathon: 04:45, one out-and-back lap.
- 10 km timed race: 05:30, on a 5 km out-and-back course.
- 5 km fun walk/run: 08:00, non-competitive and suitable for beginners and families.
These times are drawn from the 2026 iFinish organiser registration page. Some older web pages still advertise different start times; the 2026 registration information should take priority until the final race-week guide is released.
Cut-offs and entry rules
The 2026 registration page states that full-marathon entrants must present a recognised marathon result of six hours or faster, or a half-marathon result of 2 hours 45 minutes or faster. This is an entry eligibility requirement, not the same as the finish-time requirement. To earn a marathon finisher certificate and prizes, runners must finish within 5 hours 30 minutes. The 32.2 km race has a five-hour certificate limit and 4 hours 30 minutes for podium eligibility. The half marathon lists 3 hours 30 minutes for finisher certification and 2 hours 45 minutes for podium eligibility. The 10 km race lists 90 minutes for a certificate and 75 minutes for podium eligibility. The 5 km category is untimed.
Course and runner services
The race uses paved riverside routes through Chicalim and Vasco da Gama, with hydration and medical assistance arranged along the course. Expect a mix of serious competition and a destination-race atmosphere. Participants should check the official race-week route maps for the final turnarounds, road closures and support locations. Race-pack collection is recorded at Chicalim Panchayat Grounds before race day, but runners should confirm collection dates and authorisation rules in their own organiser instructions before travelling.
Verified 2026 awards and course support
The organiser advertises more than INR 800,000 in cash prizes, spread across 96 individual awards, with equal cash awards for women and men in the open categories. The official race website says open-category results are determined by net chip time, with those prizes declared on race day; age-category awards are scheduled to be distributed within a fortnight. Eligibility still depends on the published category-specific time limits, so review the organiser's detailed prize tables rather than assuming every finisher receives a cash award.
The organiser describes the route as AIMS-certified, with roads closed to normal traffic for more than six hours and hydration points roughly every 1–1.5 km. It also advertises the marathon as an Abbott World Marathon Majors age-group qualifying race, subject to the official qualifying rules. For details and changes, refer to the current-edition organiser website.
Registration and fees
The event's official iFinish listing currently advertises an online registration end date of 1 December 2026; this is a published closing date, not a guarantee that places remain available until then. The website displays discounted/early-bird prices for several distances, and the displayed price and category availability should be checked at checkout. Full-marathon entries require qualifying evidence. The 32.2 km category is available through the organiser even though ARC does not currently provide an exact 32.2 km distance filter; its advertised early-bird price is ₹3,150. Registration rules state that entry fees are non-refundable and category changes are subject to conditions and availability. See the 2026 registration platform and organiser's official website for current instructions.
Race Pack Information
Current participant information lists bib collection on 6 Dec, 14:00-19:00, and 7 Dec, 09:30-19:00. Bring registration confirmation and photo ID. Authorised proxy collection requires the organiser's supporting documents. No race-day collection.
