Event Detail
The 37th Bangkok Marathon returns to the historic Rattanakosin area on Sunday, 10 January 2027, with four road-race distances beginning beside the Grand Palace on Sanam Chai Road. This is a late-night and early-morning event, so runners should distinguish the overnight assembly on Saturday 9 January from the Sunday race starts. The organiser confirms the start and finish are at the same location, on an AIMS-certified course.
Official race-day timetable (Bangkok time, UTC+7)
- Saturday 9 January, 11 pm: Runners gather at Sanam Chai Road; baggage and preparation facilities begin operating.
- Sunday 10 January, 12:30 am: Full marathon, 42.195 km (6 hr 30 min time limit).
- 3 am: Half marathon, 21.1 km (4 hr limit).
- 4:30 am: Mini marathon, 10 km (2 hr 30 min limit).
- 5 am: Micro marathon, 5 km (2 hr limit).
- 7 am: Awards ceremony; award winners should attend.
- 8 am: Event closes.
Registration deadline: The organiser announced 31 October 2026 as the closing date. The event's Thai ticketing listing specifies 11:59 pm Thailand time (UTC+7), and entries may close earlier if places sell out. This is an application deadline, not a guarantee of ticket availability; check the live official registration portal before making plans.
Choosing a distance
The minimum ages on race day are 18 for the marathon, 16 for the half marathon and 12 for the 10K. The 5K is open to all ages and is a non-competitive run/walk, with no chip timing or ranking. All runners receive the advertised event shirt, medal and goodie bag. The 10K, half and full marathon also include chip timing, while finisher shirts are for half and full marathon finishers who complete within their category cut-off. Race entry fees differ for Thai and international participants and exclude VAT; check the correct category when paying.
Race expo and practical planning
The organiser confirms race-pack collection on 8–9 January 2027 at Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Bring a national ID or passport and registration confirmation email; follow the organiser for the collection hours. The nearby Sanam Chai MRT station is the recommended public transport access point, but verify overnight train operating hours before relying on it for a midnight start. Allow additional time for road closures and security in the Grand Palace precinct.
Consult the official 2027 race information and rules and Thai-baht registration portal for final details.
