Event Detail

Border Go! Charity Trail Run Hong Kong 2026 is a first-edition fundraising event organised by the Association for Sha Tau Kok Culture and Ecology (ASTKCE) on Sunday 8 November 2026. It explores the rarely raced northern New Territories border hills, raising funds for rural conservation, cultural heritage and environmental education around Sha Tau Kok.

The 20.4 km point-to-point course starts at Yau Tam Mei Holiday Camp / Farm Camp in Yuen Long and finishes at Hong Kong Baptist Assembly, 88 Ping Che Road, in the North District. Runners pass Ngau Tam Shan, Ki Lun Shan, Snake Ridge, Tai Shek Mo and Wa Shan. The route is rugged in places, with steep slopes, loose gravel, village-road crossings and extensive countryside views. It is a genuinely technical trail event, not a road 20K.

Confirmed starts, Hong Kong time:

  • 8:00am: Challenge individual category (five-hour cutoff) and institutional/group category (eight-hour cutoff)
  • 8:10–8:30am: Open men/women, Senior (60–70) men/women, and three-runner team category (eight-hour cutoff); exact assigned wave within this period depends on organiser instructions
  • Approximately 4:00–4:30pm: eight-hour category finish windows; finish checkpoint operates provisionally until 5pm.

There are three checkpoints: Ki Lun Shan Saddle at 3.5 km, Che Kwu Hang at 10.1 km, and the entrance to Wa Shan Military Road at 15.0 km. Organisers provide route markings, chip timing, hydration, energy drinks/food, first aid and physio services. Finishers within their division's cutoff receive a medal and later an electronic finisher certificate. The Challenge division requires evidence of finishing a previous 30 km or longer trail race; all participating runners must be 18–70 years old on race day. Teams consist of three runners travelling together, with team finish determined by the last teammate.

Important fundraising requirement: The standard entry charge is not the complete financial commitment. Individuals pay a HK$300 entry fee plus at least HK$530 mandatory fundraising and HK$12 ticket-service charge. Three-runner teams pay HK$900 entry plus at least HK$1,590 fundraising and HK$36 service charge. Institutional teams have a separate HK$4,800 minimum fundraising requirement and are billed by the organiser. Early-bird discounts may have sold out and should not be assumed available.

Registration deadline: 25 October 2026 at 11:59pm HKT, or earlier if capacity fills. Apply through POPTICKET. The organiser's official important-dates notice schedules race-pack collection from 30 October to 1 November 2026. Book an assigned collection appointment when notified, and bring the registration QR code plus original HKID or passport to collect the bib, timing chip and event T-shirt. Exact pickup hours and venue still require confirmation from the organiser. See the official important dates.

Transport: The organiser strongly recommends its shuttle buses or green minibus 37 from Yuen Long to Yau Tam Mei village offices, then an approximately three-minute walk to the start. There is no public race-day parking at the camp. From the finish, bus 79K or green minibus 52K goes towards Fanling station after a short walk to the stop at Ping Che Road. Because start and finish are separate locations, arrange transport accordingly.

The same fundraising festival also has a separately booked family wetlands/eco-tour, including fishpond heritage at Lut Chau. That is a cultural activity, not another race distance and is not included in these trail registration categories.

Course navigation: The organiser also provides an official GPX route download and a route map on its race information page. Follow race-day signs and marshal instructions if the final marked route differs.
