Event Detail

Sai Kung 50 brings Action Asia Events' HK50 trail-running series to the spectacular coast and hills of Sai Kung Country Park on Sunday 6 December 2026. Starting and finishing at Pak Tam Chung in Hong Kong's New Territories, the race combines exposed ridgelines, remote beaches and challenging mountain footpaths. It is a separate December series round from the Sai Kung event held in February 2026.

Pick a course that suits your training

The organiser lists actual course distances of 54 km, 36 km, 22 km and 12 km (some entry-fee categories are marketed as 50 km and 35 km). The two longest routes head into the Sai Kung coastline, climbing above views of Ham Tin Wan and Tai Wan, then traversing forest paths and mountain terrain. The extended ultra course takes runners towards the MacLehose Trail and back over major ridgelines before returning to Pak Tam Chung. Shorter courses branch off earlier, but still involve significant ascent and uneven ground. Consult the organiser's downloadable maps and checkpoint profiles before choosing a category. Do not mistake the race for a flat road run.

Start arrangements and aid

The advertised first start is 6:30 am Hong Kong time for the long-distance categories; the 22 km and 12 km races start at 6:40 am. The website provides distance-specific checkpoint and cut-off information, including an eight-hour limit for 36 km and four hours for 12 km. Along the longer courses, designated checkpoints offer water, electrolyte drinks and food such as fruit, bread and biscuits. Runners must bring refillable drinking containers and at least one litre of hydration capacity. The rules prohibit littering and require any competitor who retires to inform race officials.

The organiser offers extra-cost transport departing Admiralty, Prince Edward, Sha Tin and Yuen Long; book transport during registration if needed rather than relying on early public buses. Staying near a departure point may make the pre-dawn start easier.

Before race weekend

Entries are handled through the official race page's Active registration button. The organiser publishes different prices for successive entry phases, and places can fill before race day. From 19 September through 31 October 2026, the listed fees are HKD 680 for the 54 km course (marketed as 50 km), HKD 630 for 36 km (marketed as 35 km), HKD 520 for 22 km and HKD 420 for 12 km. All four rates rise in the next phase. Race-pack collection is scheduled for 30 November to 4 December, 11:00 am to 7:30 pm, at the Action X Store, Unit 1206, 12/F, 130-136 Connaught Road Central, Sheung Wan. Read the current race brief for mandatory gear, course changes, transport arrangements and any special overseas collection procedures.
